BC: January 2019 TBR

Bit late to this one but hey-ho, better late than never. I won’t be getting to too many books this month as I have a couple of uni exams in a couple of weeks, but I’ve got a fairly ambitious TBR.

  1. The Gutter Prayer – Gareth Hanrahan. This has been doing the rounds recently, with a fair few blogs saying that it will probably be one of the best books of 2019 back before Christmas. I was lucky enough to get a NetGalley ARC of this, so I’m going to try and get through it by publication date (January 17th).
  2. Never Die – Rob J Hayes. Another ARC (this time direct from the author) that I want to try and get to before publication date (January 29th). I really enjoyed City of Kings by the author (which made my Top 5 reads of 2018, a review can be found here), so I am excited to see how well this performs.
  3. Vengeful – V.E. Schwab. I’m currently listening to the audiobook of this one, and so far it just feels like a continuation of Vicious without too much else going on. Whether or not this proves to be a good thing yet remains to be seen, but a review for its prequel can be found here.
  4. The Wolf in the Whale – Jordanna Max Brodsky. Another NetGalley ARC that I would ideally finish before the 29th of January, though this doesn’t seem likely at all. It looks like a really interesting mixture of Norse and Inuit mythology – something I couldn’t say no to.

All in all, this would be well over 1000 pages in a month filled with uni revision, so realistically I am not convinced I’ll finish all four novels. Fingers-crossed I will be able to get a review up for the The Gutter Prayer and Never Die in time for publication, Venegeful will definitely be finished by February, but The Wolf in the Wale may find itself pushed back a little bit, unfortunately.

    1. Thank you! Vicious is such a solid book – you really are missing out by not reading it! The jury is still out on Vengeful for me atm, but if you have copies of each at the ready then I say dive in when you can 🙂
